of the big cities in the east. right now we're not really seeing too many problems on the storm tracker radar. yesterday we didn't see all that many nasty storms. what's going to happen is the weather pattern is going to change. we have a big area of low pressure that's going to be moving down from the north and swing a cold front through the northern plains. today will be in the 80s. enjoy today. temperatures will take a big dip. it will track across the border of the u.s. and canada. behind it the coolest air of the season. ma areas if you haven't had a frost or freeze yet, you will, including colorado. there's a potential that some areas could see snow in the northern rockies, maybe some spots of colorado as we go throughout friday into saturday. today you're in the 80s in areas of montana. tomorrow will be the 40s. enjoy it in minneapolis. the warmest day you'll have. middle of the country looks gorgeous. numerous showers on the eastern seaboard. you do need the umbrella in many of the areas if you live in the east. here's a look at the weather outside your window. chance of showers and s

breaking news coming out of syria's biggest city. three big explosions rocked the city. the blasts happened in the main square in allepo. state tv reported many people were killed and a major material damage was dwun one to many buildings. people on the ground report that they were car bombs that went off within minutes much each other. >>> this morning president obama and mitt romney are getting their final preparations in before tonight's first presidential debate. the candidates will square off at the university of denver. take a look at the hockey arena there. it will host the debate tonight. romney has spent the past few days in the mile high city preparing for tonight. he took a break yesterday for lunch at chipotle. both campaigns know how crucial tonight's debate is especially in virginia. >> i think it's an opportunity for governor romney to flush out these issues face to face with president obama. there's no opportunity for the obama campaign to twist his message or his words. >> he's very good at explaining what's going on, what he's proposing, what he has done. and i don't think

to points north like new york city and boston, their day off to a rocky start because of this power outage. now, it's primarily affecting amtrak service, although we are seeing an impact to mark service north of baltimore as well. as for amtrak, the 448 acela express to boston as cancelled, the 5:30 northeast regional was cancelled also the express to new york. that gate is listed as closed. we have the 6:30 regional to newark cancelled so we're seeing big delays, big cancellations and inconveniences to travelers headed on amtrak points north from union station this morning. we did speak to a commuter who had a 9:30 meeting in new york city. he looked up at the board here and saw his train was not going to be leaving and so he's scrambling to try to figure out another way to get to that meeting this morning. mark train also points north of baltimore impacted. they have crews working on the situation. we'll update you later on in the show. megan mcgrath, news 4. back to you. >>> controversial ads supporting israel now on display in some metro stations. yesterday the transit agency put up th

in the city. it will restart the red top meter program that was halted earlier this year. right now any driver with disabled tags can park for free at any meter. the red top would mean that disabled drivers would have to pay for parking, but there would be spots reserved for them. it's meant to cut down on abuse of handicapped parking privileges. >>> congress and the general asmbly have already approved the expansion of the washington metropolitan airport authority's board. it would grow from 13 members to 17. the district's newest member, d.c. chamber of commerce president barbara lang, has already been vetted. she would join the board immediately. the board has come under fire recently for lavish spending on travel and meals. >>> a woman's motorized scooter malfunctioned. karen jones said her scooter started running in circles at the eastern market station back in july, and no one could stop it. that scooter threw her onto the tracks. >> i was hollering. i was like somebody help me, please. but couldn't nobody catch the chair. and when the chair stopped, bam, it threw me over in the tracks.

. >> reporter: last summer, kwame brown, a former rising star, resign his chairmanship and left city politics, his career, in ruins. he was ordered back in court tuesday for failing to check in weekly before he was extended in november for felony bank fraud. at his guilty plea last summer, brown had promised to cooperate. but judge richard leon was told tuesday, brown had three times failed to check in as required. brown attempted to apologize. your apology is a little late in the game. what is your excuse, the judge that, cutting off brown. you're five weeks away from sentencing. this is not the way to position yourself. you must be extremely careful. you don't want to know what the next step is. judge leon ordered brown from now on to check in personally at the court once a week. and to adhere to a curfew from 11:00 p.m. at night until 6:30 in the morning. don't be back here until the day of sentencing. this is pretty simple stuff. brown's attorney said his client had gotten the message that he could be jailed if he disobeyed the court again. >> is he clear now on what his pretrial release
